Pulse~LINK delivers a solution capable of Whole-Home, High-Data-Rate networking with deterministic Quality-of-Service (QoS). This capability enables the seamless distribution of interactive High Definition content, multi-channel audio and high-speed data networking throughout the home.

Pulse-LINK’s award-winning CWave™ Ultra Wideband (UWB) solution enables a hybrid wired/wireless network for in-home coax cabling and wireless connectivity- all from the same chipset. Devices enabled with the CWaveÔ UWB PL3100 chipset allow HD/Multimedia content located anywhere in the home to be shared across the existing coax backbone with wireless networking connections in each room for set-top boxes, HDTVs, PVRs, DVD players, media center PCs, and other multimedia equipment. Superior data carrying capacity enables room-to-room distribution of multiple streams of 1080p content with interactive “Trick Play” capabilities (pause, fast forward, fast rewind) and menu navigation.

Integrated Circuits

The PL3100 CWave™ chipset is comprised of the PL3130 Baseband+MAC, PL3120 RF Transceiver and the PL3110 Low Noise Amplifier. The same chipset supports wired and wireless connectivity, and it coexists with CATV signaling.

CWave PL3100 chipset features include:

• Selectable Data Rates to 1.012 Gbps
• Supports simultaneous operation of 1394 and Gigabit Ethernet over Coax
• Supports wired and wireless connections simultaneously from a common chipset
• Implements the IEEE 802.15.3b MAC for Guaranteed QoS

Evaluation Kits

The CWave™ PL3100 Evaluation Kit (EVK) is a fully functional RF transceiver platform that is easily configured to operate in a piconet environment. The PL3100 EVK enables users to quickly set up and evaluate the high-performance bidirectional transfer of streaming video, audio, and other data over a standard coax cable infrastructure or wireless connection. Audio/video test data and multimedia content is delivered to and from the PL3100 EVKs through a standard Ethernet interface controlled by Pulse~LINK supplied test data transfer utilities or third-party applications hosted on external PCs.

Reference Design Kits

Pulse~LINK offers a Mini-PCI card reference design showing a design example of a Mini-PCI card design, using the PL3100 chipset. The CWave™ PL3100-RDK Reference Design Kit (RDK) consists of a Mini-PCI card along with design files showing the design details.
